But owing to the work of liquidators and the forces of nature, this place is now visited not only by scientists but also by tourists from all over the world. Here people live next to rich and diverse wildlife, and make from Chornobyl apples a fragrant apple spirit.
The way of the invaders to Kyiv lay through Chornobyl. Its capture became the world’s first act of the international nuclear terrorism. But Ukrainians are indomitable indeed. As in 1986, thanks to the work of the liquidators, the radiation receded, now Ukrainians have cleared their land of the attackers.
From the harvest of Chornobyl lands, which were occupied and liberated, volunteers, who patronize Chornobyl, created a radiation-safe apple spirit. To capture in history the eternal indomitability of our nation and to support the recovery of the region.
This story began with a dream. In 1986, the radiation reconnaissance officer, the liquidator of the accident’s consequences, Sergii Mirnyi, carried out missions in the abandoned Chornobyl villages, with the orchards, plentiful with apples; they fell down, forming a rich fragrant carpet. In the rare quiet moments he dreamt about the revival of this region. Over several decades, owing to the feat of the liquidators and natural processes, the land of Chornobyl recovered impressively. The project “CHORNOBYL TOUR” started to introduce people from all over the world to this place of global interest, to its legendary history of struggle and revival.
It was the war that brought us together in a volunteer team with the distillery specialists. Together we drove past mutilated villages and saw how people did not give up, but for a second time lovingly restored everything around them – their own houses, gardens and their normal life. We were fascinated by their strength and indomitability. And decided to share this story with the world. This is how the idea of CHORNOBYL RAY was born – a drink made from the apples from Chornobyl Polissia. Which, like after the Chornobyl accident, survived and is recovering after the russian occupation. People helped Chornobyl land to recover — and now it is Chornobyl helping people. From the fruit grown on its land, we make a high-quality product of our indomitable land — CHORNOBYL RAY.
A portion of the proceeds from each collectible bottle of CHORNOBYL RAY goes to the struggle of Ukrainians for freedom and the revival of the country.
CHORNOBYL RAY is made according to the ancient traditional recipes of Ukrainian Polissia. There it is called “Chornobyl apple spirit”, “moonshine”, “homemade vodka” or “horilka”. At its core, there are apples: we buy them from the residents of the Chornobyl eviction zone and deliver to the distillery in the Transcarpathia region of Ukraine. Here, combined with the spring water of the Carpathian Mountains and processed by up-to-date technology, they give birth to a unique drink — the apple spirit CHORNOBYL RAY.
Before ending up in the bottle, the apple spirit rests for 45 days in special containers at the factory, inhaling clean air and the aromas of mountain herbs. This is how the wonderful taste and unique scent of CHORNOBYL RAY are created. The distilled drink has 42% vol, and it is also an example of the strength of spirit of indomitable Ukrainians who are always ready to fight for freedom.

Is CHORNOBYL RAY radiation-free? 100% yes. Our apples are gathered on those territories of the resettlement zone where people live. Manufacturing processes, especially distillation, make it impossible for radionuclides to enter the final product. And the complete radiation safety of the drink is confirmed by laboratory studies and the conclusion of the National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
Human fear of radiation is quite understandable. But we usually fear what we don’t know. The inability to see, taste or touch radiation and the longstanding lack of information about the real state of affairs in the Chornobyl zone make us fear everything related to it. But more than 35 years have radically changed Chornobyl. CHORNOBYL RAY is manufactured at a certified and licensed factory in Transcarpathia region in the West of Ukraine. All apples undergo thorough incoming and laboratory control. Spring water used in the production process is subjected to multi-level filtration. Our Chornobyl apple spirit is recognized as radiologically safe for consumption: it meets the Hygienic standards of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, which is certified by the National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences and of Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Each batch of liquor has its own quality certificate.
